Deep in the Tunisian Sahara, TuNur is a solar-powered renewable energy initiative with a big ambition… Rather than the traditional method of using a range of photovoltaic solar panels to absorb the sun’s energy, the project uses “concentrated solar power” instead.
Simply put, this process uses mirrors to refocus the sun’s force to a central tower, where water and molten salt is heated to 932 degrees Fahrenheit. That energy powers a turbine, which creates electricity.

Researchers at the Universities of Sheffield, Liverpool and the West of England, Bristol have set up a new project with the aim of ensuring robots meet industrial standards and are developed responsibly. The £1.4 million project will run until 2018. Professor Michael Fisher, principal investigator at Liverpool, said the project will ‘develop formal verification techniques for tackling questions of safety, ethics, legality and reliability across a range of autonomous systems.’

The Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS) is being devised to assist its wearer in lifting heavy loads, protect them from bullets and provide the lucky soldier with information concerning their environment using sensors, cameras and advanced displays. TALOS will have bulletproof liquid armor, 360-degree cameras with built-in night vision capabilities, sensors that can detect injuries and apply wound-sealing foam.Admiral McRaven, the Commander of USSOCOM, has tasked the TALOS Team with delivering the first generation combat suit no later than 30 July 2018.
